Project
Seneca Telephone Co. is an independent telco in southwest Missouri, serving customers in Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Their existing switching facility was depreciated and outmoded, and due to be upgraded. They chose Finley for the project based on a broad range of experience with independent telephone operations.
Solution
Finley consulted with Seneca to develop a solution and helped to manage the competitive bidding process, providing detailed technical evaluations of bids. The solution recommended by Finley was a Nortel Softswitch CSC 1500, which upgraded telephone switching capabilities and added IP capability as well.
Once the process was underway, Finley engineers worked to integrate new switching equipment into the existing network, ensuring switch translation for the RUS environment, as well as feature compatibility and transparency. Finally, Finley managed the cutover to the new network.
Outcome
The upgrade replaced three frames of equipment with one. In addition to providing enhanced services not available on the old platform, Seneca has been able to reduce energy costs because of reduced power consumption by the facility as well as reducing the heating and cooling required for the equipment.
